Celebratory Milkshake | Voltron: Legendary Defender

“Hey, hey! I made celebratory milkshakes for you two! Just a little welcome gift to Matt from me and Kaltenecker. No big deal. Fun fact about Alteans, they don’t get brain freeze! Coran and Allura just totally Hoovered up their shakes in one slurp. [chuckle] I’ve never seen anything like it before.”

—Hunk, “Voltron: Legendary Defender”, S. 4 Ep. 5

Happy birthday (Jan. 13th) to our warm, kind, and strong interstellar foodie, Hunk Garrett!🎉💛🦁

In celebration, I made a replica of the milkshakes he made in “Voltron: Legendary Defender” season 4, episode 5 for (spoiler!) Matt's safe return and reunion with Pidge. We don’t know if the milkshakes had a certain flavor so I made birthday cake milkshakes with yellow cake mix! I chose yellow because of Hunk, but you can substitute any flavor of cake mix; chocolate, white, lemon, etc. I also added sprinkles, which they did not have in the show, but I’m sure Hunk would approve. It is a celebration after all.😉🎉

Note: To make the cup design; if it's a cup you don't want to permanently mark up you can use cut blue tape strips (like wash tape) or a dry erase marker. If it's a disposable cup or one you want to keep with the design, go ahead and use a blue sharpie or ceramic paint pen.

Hunk & Kaltenecker's Celebratory Milkshake

1-2 big scoops of Marshmallow Creme/Fluff
4-5 big scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream
~ 1/2 Cup Yellow Cake Mix Powder (or flavor of your choice)
1+ Cup Milk
Cool Whip or Homemade Whipped Cream*
Large Blueberry or Red Grape
Fresh Mint Leaf
Note: I used lactose free ice cream & almond milk & it was great. :)

Combine the first 5 ingredients in a blender & blend until smooth. Add more of the ingredients if needed to get to your desired flavor and consistency. Pour into the cup

Spoon some whipped cream into a plastic baggie, cut a large-ish hole from one of the corners, & pipe the cream onto the shake in a big swirl like frosting a cupcake.

Garnish with a large blueberry or red grape plus a mint leaf. Sprinkles optional. Serve with a blue bendy straw (sadly, I could only find a striped one!)

*You can homemake your own whipped cream by whisking together 1 Cup Heavy Cream + 1 Tbsp. Powdered Sugar until moderately stiff peaks form.
